Marlon Brando Slept Here

You may not recognize this one, new residents of Hoboken--but you can't deny it's as impressive as that new piece of glitz that's been blocking the sidewalk on River Street for years and now is open, boasting crystal chandeliers and glamorous stars.

In 1954, there were a few little hotels in Hoboken, and some nice ones like this, the Meyers, where Marlon Brando and the other actors and technicians who were working on the classic Hoboken movie On the Waterfront spent a little time. I only wish the hotel were still around!

Thanks to Bob Slezak for the picture and the title of this post!

Do you know where in Hoboken this was located?

Third and Hudson, I think. What's there now, a sushi bar?

What a classic photo!

I like the W but I haven't seen any glamorous stars there yet. Maybe the real housewives of NJ? :)

Speaking of the "real housewives," did you see the one where they went to Lua? Nobody mentioned that it's in Hoboken (I wonder why).

I'll bet it was wonderful, Carolyn. If you have any pictures--amazing now how few of us were snapping pictures in those days--I'll post 'em on the blog!

Mary Lois, I've never actually seen the show but my friends talk about it all the time.

I've been to Lua a couple of times and really enjoyed it. In fact, I like every bar/restaurant on Sinatra Drive - Quays, Melting Pot, Teak (ok it's around the corner), Trinity, etc.

It's a hoot! Not like any housewives I know, but they're for real--you gotta love them. The big finale will be Tuesday night at 10, but try to catch one or two in advance of that so you'll know what's going on. That season finale is going to be good!
